Metrics Inc., a Greenville-based contract pharmaceutical manufacturing and development company that serves clients worldwide, has been named to Business North Carolina magazine’s “Mid-Market Fast 40” list.

The list — sponsored by Business North Carolina and Cherry, Bekaert & Holland LLP, a certified public accounting and consulting firm — showcases companies that have experienced the greatest growth in revenues and employees within the last three years. Metrics was ranked No. 21 in the list of mid-level companies featured in the December issue of the magazine.

“Our priority at Metrics has always been to conduct sound and thoughtful science that helps our pharmaceutical industry clients succeed and grow,” Phil Hodges, president and CEO, said. “It is extremely gratifying that in performing that important and relevant work, Metrics itself has succeeded and grown. It is an honor to be named to Business North Carolina’s Fast 40 list.”

Business North Carolina noted that Metrics experienced 25 percent revenue growth and 23 percent employee growth from 2008-10.

Started as an analytical laboratory in 1994, Metrics has evolved into a full-service provider of quality pharmaceutical formulation development; first-time-in-man (FTIM) formulations; clinical material manufacturing (CTM) for Phase I, II and III trials; commercial manufacturing; and analytical method development and validation services. Metrics has particular expertise in FTIM and Phase I, II and III CTM manufacturing. The company has conducted more than 130 FTIM projects for different chemical entities in the last five years while developing more than 700 batches of CTM in the same period.
