LBA Group Inc. continues to be ranked highly among minority-owned businesses in North Carolina and the United States.

In the latest survey, the Greenville telecommunications company is ranked 25th in the listing of the top 50 minority-owned enterprises in the state and 334th in the listing of the top 500 Hispanic American-owned businesses in the nation.

The rankings are compiled by DiversityBusiness, the nation's largest organization of minority-owned companies doing business with Fortune 1000 firms, government agencies and universities.

“LBA is honored to be recognized again,” Lawrence Behr, company founder and chief executive officer, said. “This achievement stems from the commitment and excellence of our diversified team and its success in meeting the economic challenges of this era.”

Topping the national list is Group O Inc., a resource optimization company in Illinois that introduced workplace efficiencies to AT&T, Microsoft and many other companies. A handful of North Carolina companies on the national list include USfalcon Inc., an IT and systems engineering company based in Morrisville that supports the U.S. Department of Defense.

Behr founded his company in 1963 after being attracted as a teenager to broadcast engineering. First hiring out his skills, Behr soon discovered an affinity for business decision-making and formed his company.

Today, LBA Group Inc. is comprised of two divisions: LBA Technology, which manufactures and distributes systems and components for the transmission and control of radio frequency energy (its customers are radio broadcasters, wireless carriers, military organizations, laboratories and health care centers); and Lawrence Behr Associates, Inc., which provides radio frequency consulting services to clients in the homeland security, wireless, and mining industries.

LBA Group is multicultural in its heritage — Behr's father was a native of Mexico — and its business outlook is global. The company is involved in telecommunications projects on every continent — from Europe to the Middle East and Africa and across South America.

LBA Group and the other 499 honored companies were recognized in Washington, D.C., at the DiversityBusiness.com's Multicultural Business Conference.
