Eastern Carolina Vocational Center (ECVC) recently was honored by the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Land and Maritime as one of the federal government's best contractors.

More than 6,000 companies provide products and services to the military through DLA Land and Maritime contracts. ECVC was one of just 37 companies to receive the Recognition of Excellence Gold Award this year.

ECVC's most recent Gold Award was earned by maintaining a DLA quality and on-time shipping rating of 100 percent for calendar year 2010.

During the year, ECVC completed 41,352 shipments of mission-critical items destined for military units in the United States and 34 other countries.

The contract with DLA requires ECVC shipments to be made on either the same day as receipt of order or the day following the receipt of order.

The awards ceremony was held during the annual DLA Industry Conference and Exhibition at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Paul Bartlett and Milton Clemmons of ECVC accepted the Gold Award from Brigadier General Darrell K. Williams, the DLA Land and Maritime commanding officer.

Eastern Carolina Vocational Center received its first Gold Award in 1993 and has received the Recognition of Excellence award from the Defense Logistics Agency every year since.
