DSM Named 2007 Pitt County Industry of the Year

Greenville, NC (February 27, 2007) — DSM has been selected as Pitt County ’s Industry of the Year for 2007. DSM is active worldwide in nutritional and pharmaceutical ingredients, performance materials, and industrial chemicals and ranks among the global leaders in many of its fields. The company is headquartered in the Netherlands, with over 200 locations in 5 continents including Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and the Americas . Locally, DSM’s corporate giving strategy focuses on families, education and health and wellness initiatives including partnering with Pitt County Schools and the Pitt County United Way, March of Dimes, ECU, Pitt Community College and Relay for Life. It is also the company’s policy to maintain business activities and products that do not adversely affect safety, health, or the environment. DSM has set targets for reducing OSHA recordable injuries by 20% per year starting in 2003 and has exceeded that goal each year. The company provides stable employment opportunities, a dynamic working environment and career growth opportunities for its employees. DSM has invested over $200 million since 2001 in its facilities in order to provide new services and technologies for current customers as well as to attract new customers. The DSM Greenville site has been and continues to be a strong and viable economic source for Pitt County and all of eastern North Carolina.
